EBOPRAS European Board · Istanbul Aesthetic Center
Liposuction is sculpture, not weight loss. Whether the answer is VASER, a tummy tuck or fat transfer, the plan is drawn around your anatomy and performed personally by one European Board-certified surgeon.

One patient at a time. Your consultation, your operation and your follow-ups, handled personally by Dr. Akçay and never delegated.
Healed result · two angles
In the early weeks, swelling can hide the definition you paid for and add volume you no longer have. That is why every photograph here carries its date. Most show healed results; one was taken at ten days, bruises included, because honest evidence has to show that stage as well.

“A scale cannot see shape. Liposuction done by the litre leaves people smaller and shapeless; done along the lines of the body, it leaves them looking the way they were built to look. I plan a waist the way a tailor plans a cut — standing, in daylight, to your anatomy — and I carry out the work myself. No tailor signs a suit he didn’t cut. Neither do I.”

The actual documents: fellowship of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, specialist certification, medical diploma. Tap to read them.
Verify his fellowship in the EBOPRAS registryYes, and that is the whole point of this practice. Dr. Akçay handles your assessment himself, draws your markings himself, performs the surgery himself and personally reads every healing photo you send afterwards. Nothing is passed down to an unnamed colleague you first meet in a corridor. His European Board fellowship can be checked in the public EBOPRAS register linked above.
You’ve read them because some of them were true. The danger had a precise anatomical cause: fat injected into or beneath the muscle, where it can enter deep veins. That is why Dr. Akçay’s protocol is subcutaneous placement only: fat goes under the skin, never into the muscle, in a full private hospital with a dedicated anaesthesia team, never an office theatre. And if your anatomy or your health makes the procedure unwise, he will tell you no, and mean it.
It depends on your skin, and that answer belongs to you before surgery, not after. Skin with good elasticity retracts over the new contour on its own. Skin stretched by pregnancy, weight change or time needs help: J-Plasma tightening in the same session for moderate laxity, or a tummy tuck instead of liposuction where there is real excess. Your photos tell Dr. Akçay which case you are, and you are told plainly before any booking.
Your garment goes home with you, fitted to your body, alongside a written schedule for wearing it; patients who had fat transfer also carry a sitting protocol that guards the graft through the first weeks. From there the follow-up runs on a calendar: photo reviews at weeks 2, 6 and 12, then at months 6 and 12, all inside the WhatsApp conversation you opened on day one. Your full medical file travels with you too, written in English so your home doctor can read it.
Ultrasound energy loosens fat before it is removed: gentler on the tissue that stays, kinder to the skin above, and precise enough to sculpt a waistline rather than simply empty it.
Ask about VASER liposuctionDefinition work: the lines of the abdomen, waist and chest revealed by sculpting along the muscle anatomy, including six-pack etching. For patients near a stable weight who train but cannot uncover the result.
Ask about high-definition workHelium plasma energy applied beneath the skin in the same session, contracting mild-to-moderate laxity as the contour heals. Often it is the difference between a smaller shape and a tight one.
Ask about J-PlasmaWhen skin has been stretched past the point of return, most often by pregnancy or major weight loss, no device shrinks it back. A tummy tuck removes the excess and repairs separated abdominal muscles. Sometimes it is the honest answer where liposuction alone would disappoint.
Ask which one you needYour own fat, taken from where you don’t want it, purified and placed under the skin of the hips and buttocks: subcutaneous only, never into the muscle (the procedure known as BBL). Read question 02 above before you read anything else.
Ask about fat transferTummy tuck, liposuction and breast surgery planned together after pregnancy: combined under one anaesthesia where safe, staged where safety says so. One surgeon plans the whole sequence.
Ask about a mommy makeoverLipedema is a medical condition, not a cosmetic complaint: painful, disproportionate fat on the legs and arms that diet does not touch. Specialised liposuction reduces the burden, often over staged sessions.
Ask about lipedema surgeryWhich procedures can share one anaesthesia, and which must wait, is a safety decision, set by your physiology and theatre time, not by a wishlist. Dr. Akçay plans the combination and tells you what he will not combine.
Ask about combining proceduresA few phone photos (front, side, back) and what bothers you. Dr. Akçay reviews them personally and you receive an honest assessment, which sometimes reads: “surgery is not the right tool for this.”
Technique and areas, whether your skin needs tightening or a tummy tuck instead, a written all-inclusive quote with every cost on it, and a video consultation with Dr. Akçay himself before you commit to anything. Nobody rushes you toward a deposit, and nothing on this page is counting down.
A VIP car collects you at Istanbul Airport and brings you to your hotel near the hospital. Travel in loose clothing and rest well; markings and theatre come tomorrow. Nothing about your contact changes on arrival: the coordinator you have been messaging is still the one answering, on the conversation you already have.
In-person examination and markings, drawn standing up, because you live upright and only lie down in theatre. Pre-operative tests follow: blood panel, ECG, anaesthesiology review. Then surgery at the ISO 9001-certified Istanbul Aesthetic Center, his partner hospital — a fully equipped private surgical hospital in central Istanbul with a dedicated anaesthesia team. You stay the night under nursing care.
Your compression garment is fitted before you leave the hospital. Early walking, scheduled in-person checks, and a sitting protocol after fat transfer to protect the graft. Between visits there is always someone to call; the city stops feeling foreign when your care team is ten minutes away.
Around day seven Dr. Akçay examines you, and only when he is satisfied are you cleared to fly home, with your complete medical records in English. Some plans need a few nights more; you’ll know before you book your flights.
Photo reviews at weeks 2, 6 and 12, then months 6 and 12, on the same WhatsApp thread. The true contour appears as swelling settles over three to six months, and Dr. Akçay looks at it with you.
Photos in, quote out: once Dr. Akçay has reviewed your pictures, your personal written quote normally arrives within 24 hours.

It depends on total volume and your physiology, with limits set by the anaesthesia team, not by the wishlist. Abdomen, waist and back are commonly combined in one session; Dr. Akçay tells you what is safe for you, and anything beyond that is staged.
By your skin and your muscles, not your preference. If the skin has good elasticity and the abdominal wall is intact, liposuction sculpts. If the skin is stretched past recovery or the muscles have separated after pregnancy, a tummy tuck is the honest answer, and you’re told which case you are at assessment, before any booking.
Ultrasound-assisted liposuction. Ultrasound energy loosens fat cells before they are removed, which is gentler on surrounding tissue and allows finer sculpting, particularly around the waist and in definition work.
Skin contraction. Helium plasma energy is applied under the skin in the same session, tightening mild-to-moderate laxity as you heal. It is not a substitute for a tummy tuck: where there is true skin excess, Dr. Akçay will say so.
It is fitted before you leave the hospital and worn day and night in the early weeks, then on a schedule Dr. Akçay sets for you, typically tapering over about six weeks. It shapes the result; treat it as part of the surgery.
You’ll see a change immediately, but swelling settles over three to six months, and that is when the true contour appears. Early photos lie in both directions; that’s why the gallery above is dated and the follow-up programme runs a full year.
Liposuction is not weight-loss surgery: it sculpts shape, it does not treat weight. It works best at or near a stable weight, and suitability is decided at assessment, honestly. If surgery is not the right tool for your goal, Dr. Akçay tells you so before you spend anything.
Whichever is safe for you. Some combinations (tummy tuck with liposuction, or with breast surgery) can share one anaesthesia; others must be staged. The deciding factors are your physiology and total theatre time, and the plan is put in writing before you fly.
Surgery and anaesthesia, the hospital night, your compression garment, the recovery hotel, all VIP transfers, your coordinator, all post-op checks in Istanbul, medication, and the 12-month follow-up programme. It all sits on one written, itemised quote, and that quote does not change.
Every operation takes place at his partner hospital, Istanbul Aesthetic Center, a fully equipped private surgical hospital in central Istanbul. A dedicated anaesthesia team carries out your pre-operative work-up (blood panel, ECG, anaesthesiology review) and stays with you through theatre, and your first night is spent in the hospital under nursing care.
Your driver. A VIP transfer from Istanbul Airport to your hotel is part of the package, so there is no taxi queue and no guesswork on arrival. Your English-speaking coordinator stays reachable on WhatsApp throughout, in the conversation you have used from your very first message.
You write to the thread, and Dr. Akçay looks at it himself. Worries between the scheduled photo reviews (weeks 2, 6 and 12, then months 6 and 12) are handled exactly like the reviews: send pictures, describe what you feel, and the answer comes from your surgeon, not a support desk. If your home doctor needs the clinical detail, the English-language records you travelled home with contain all of it.
Because of where the operation happens, not how. Few cities in the world perform more surgery than Istanbul, and that scale, together with local operating costs, is what brings the price down. Nothing on the clinical side is trimmed to get there. A European Board-certified surgeon working where first-rate care is simply cheaper to deliver still leaves you a saving large enough to cover your flights several times over.
WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach us — but it isn’t the only one. Leave your details below and the same team replies to you by email, usually within one working day.
A final word
There is no rush on our side. Weigh the people who would operate on you, not the quotes they send. Ask us anything, and if surgery isn’t the right answer for your body, Dr. Akçay will tell you that too.
